Welcome to a Piece of My Heart

My name is Teissia. I’m the host of this podcast. 

After fourteen months of trying to get pregnant, my husband and I were finally able to conceive with the help of IUI. Like many who struggle with infertility, the day we found out we were pregnant I felt like I had won a marathon. A very arduous, depleting, lonely marathon. 

But ten weeks later I miscarried our sweet baby we called Poppy. Shattered and broken, I walked back to the starting line.

We tried IUI three more times after we lost Poppy. No success. We are now in the middle of our IVF journey which I share about often in the podcast.

As I began to realize that bringing a child into this world would not be easy for us, I was surprised at how devastated and lonely I felt.

One place I found solace was reading about or listening to other people’s journeys through similar experiences. I felt seen and heard in a way that I didn’t elsewhere. 

That’s why I started A Piece of My Heart. 

A Piece of My Heart was created to be a supportive space for anyone navigating the world of infertility, miscarriage, and infant loss.  

It’s a place to turn to when you’re feeling alone or hopeless or sad or scared. A place to turn to when you need to feel seen and heard. 

It is also a place to share openly about topics that can sometimes feel taboo.

My belief is that the more we share our experiences with infertility, miscarriage, and infant loss, the less impermissible these subjects will become, the less lonely we who are living through these realities will feel, and the more supported future generation will become. 

Weekly episodes follow my personal journey through infertility, IUI, miscarriage, and IVF as well as open and honest conversations with brave individuals and couples facing similar challenges.

As each of these experiences becomes etched into a piece of my heart, I find myself growing in ways I never thought possible. My hope is that this podcast can help you grow and make your conception journey a little less lonely.
